介護職員の認知症高齢者に対する「寄り添い」について About "Snuggle up" for elderly people with dementia by care workers 三善, 由記子 ミヨシ, ユキコ 認知症高齢者 介護職員 寄り添い Elderly people with dementia Snuggle up care worker The purpose of this study is to clarify the " Snuggle up " that is necessary for care workers to look after elderly people with dementia. An interview took place among 14 care workers, and a figure was compiled using the KJ method. The results show that caregivers suffered from a physical and mental burden. As professionals, however, they faced the contradictory need to maintain high ethical standards while keeping high quality. In such a situation, "unrecognizable behavior" leads to thinking "I don't know," and giving up "because the person is in the state of senile dementia," or "true feeling" comes out. In contrast to "the ideal image," the care worker has "regret, reflection, and hesitation" and fights an inner struggle. Encouraged by "a happy episode," however, the care worker somehow "tries to understand." If he looks at the individualistic aspects of the elderly with dementia, he can recognize that they are the same human beings as care workers. It has been evident that this discovery works as the driving force for care workers.
