study examined the characteristics of learning calligraphy by Dong Qichang (1555-1636), a\ncalligrapher of the Ming Dynasty in China, from both theoretical and practical perspectives, using Dong’s\ncalligraphy of“ Dead tree poem”the calligraphy of Chu Suiliang (596-658) as a subject.\nAs a result, we found that Dong Qichang paid attention to the brush strokes (Zhong-feng ) of“Dead tree\npoem”by Chu Suiliang in order to acquire the skill to reproduce the “strong line”that he considered most\nimportant in calligraphy, and that his calligraphy works at the age of 40 and 47 followed the Zhong-feng\nbased on the brush strokes of“ Dead tree poem”without any difference from his own theory.\nBased on the analysis of actual works, we were able to prove that Dong Qichang was following the style\nof Zhong-feng based on the brush strokes of“ Dead tree
