| 内容記述 | 本研究は、中学校での英語学習につながる第6学年の文字指導を効果的に進めていく方法を考案すること を目的としている。中学校での英語学習の際に起こりうるつまずきの一つとして挙げられるのは、単語を読 むことの難しさであるが、それを少しでも軽減しながら中学校の英語へ導くことを念頭に置いている。本論 では、２学期、３学期に文字指導を効果的に導入していくための初段階での指導法を提示する。 Junior Sunshine 6（開隆堂）を教科書として使用しているK市立Z小学校の第６学年３クラスを対象とし て指導をすすめ、３学期終了時にアンケート調査を行い、結果を報告する計画である。 現在、日本の小学校の６割で使用されている教科書、Junior Sunshine（開隆堂）では、第５学年までは、 ListeningとSpeakingの活動を中心とした内容で学習がすすめられ、第６学年になると、各ユニットで Writingを行う内容が加わる。その際、十分な「文字慣れ」が行われていないと、学習についていけない児 童が増えることが懸念される。そこで、文字の学習が、児童にとって、できるだけ楽しく、理解したことを 児童自身が実感できることを促すために、段階的な指導方法を提案したい。 本論では、一学期の夏休み前の週一回の授業、２コマ分の授業を行った際の児童の様子と学習状況を述べ る。この学習を通してわかったことは、１時限目に、ある程度内容を知っている物語を英語で聴いて、内容 を理解できたとほとんどの児童が感じたこと、そして、単語と主語となる代名詞の理解を踏まえて、内容を さらに理解したと児童が感じたこと、さらに２時限目では、１時限目と同じ長文を聴きながら、音声と物語 の文章を重ねて読むことで、英語が読めたと実感した児童が多かったことである。 この取り組みの結果により、今後、文字を読むことに十分な時間を取って、Writingの内容へ移行してい く必要性があることを提示していきたい。 |

| 内容記述 | The purpose of this research is to devise an effective method for teaching the alphabet and phonics to the 6th grade students with the aim of facilitating smoother English language acquisition during subsequent years in junior high school. One of the “stumbling blocks” that can occur when learning English at junior high school is the difficulty of reading and memorizing words. Therefore, this study seeks to mitigate this obstacle by implementing effective instructional strategies during the 6th grade, thereby laying a foundation for enhanced English proficiency in junior high school. In this paper, I will present teaching methods at the initial stage to effectively introduce reading instruction in the second and third semesters of the 6th grade. The plan is to provide some instructions to three 6th grade classes at K Municipal Z Elementary School, which use Junior Sunshine 6 (Kairyudo) as a textbook, and to conduct a questionnaire survey at the end of the third semester to gather insights and assess the outcomes of the implemented strategies. Based on these findings I will highlight the necessity of allocating adequate time to develop foundational reading skills as a precursor to junior high school English education. |
