| 内容記述 | Thought suppression is a cognitive activity that individuals intentionally suppress to think about a target. Many previous studies showed that the participants who intended to suppress a target thought about the target more frequently than the participants who did not (paradoxical effect). Although many studies repeatedly showed the paradoxical effect with between-subject design, relatively small number of studies investigated this effect with within-subject design. Thus, the present study aimed to examine the effect of thought suppression on the learning motivation by using within-subject design. In the experiment, thirty-two participants conducted two report tasks, namely participants conducted report tasks with or without thought suppression. The result showed that participants in the condition of thought suppression spent smaller amount of time on the report task than the participants in the control condition did, suggesting that thought suppression inhibited the motivation to conduct report task. | |||||
